Not sure if I use the "Huckabee" loop knot, but I have no issues with it on 10/2 braid. I pass my jighead through the loop 2-3 times. What kind of issues do you seem to have. I am sure there are some videos out there on you tube
Gents,
when I try tying this knot with braid, it is a total disaster...anyone have any tips?

I seen it on you-tube, tried it, do not like it, it seem to be a weeker knot than the knots I am using now.
I am curious to this as well. I have tried every loop knot I can find and have not found a single one of them to be strong enough for me to feel comfortable using. I hate using three way swivels but that is the only way I can find that gives me the same strength at the line. Every loop knot I have tried is considerably weaker than using a three way.

I've been using the Huckabee knot for 4 years now with no problem. It makes a big difference on what type of line you use for this knot. Todd uses Silver Thread AN 40.
I have watched the vids on youtube...when I tie the knot, it never cinches up as clean. I have little mini loops in the knot and it never ends of where I want it.
I use a polamar knot for hooks and other terminal hardware, but I am buying into the idea that if the jig dangles on an angle, hooksets will be improved cause the crappie is engulfing the whole jig rather than just the tail...
I like the knot cause it looks really easy tie...just can't get the hang of it with braid

Antioch.... I will just have to show you sometime. If anything for me my loop ends up to big at times. That is similar to the one I use but I pass the jig through that loop 2-3x. I use it with braid all the time. It sounds like you may just not be pulling out enough line initially. You have to pull quite a bit through the eye and if you make a big enough loop to pass it through you shouldn't end up with that small of a loop
Its just a 'Surgeons End Loop Knot'.

I start with my line threaded through the hook eye and then treat the doubled line as one line and just proceed tying a overhand knot wrapping it three times before cinching it up.
First overhand wrap.
Third overhand wrap.
My tied loop knot.
Just the way I tie mine and don't have a problem with them other than not catching enough fish.
