Fishing is enjoyable to say the least. But....catching fish is even better!:p Now with that said, I'm an old dude that never had a depth finder before getting serious with the crappie. Anytime other than when the fish are on the banks they can become pretty finnicky and the right presentation can get tricky. But being able to find the structure and the depths the fish are suspended can be key...and that's the reason for the depth finder. Also, with the use of a depth finder you can locate bait and fish, putting you where they're at. Enjoy your new sport and welcome from GEORGIA.

So in the spring do you lower bait with out a bobber?
Work 'em in and cut 'em down
