    Smile Clinton Lake 6/5

Haledamage joined me for a day on the lake. We cleaned 23 real nice fish. Caught in 12 feet of water along the outside of trees. Most fish were 2-8 feet deep, minnows, later jigs when we ran out minnows. Rick fished a 3 inch grub and I fished with beavertails. Many walleye fishermans mainly at clinton point. Seen a limit 10 two men were cleaning. Another guy had three and another man fishing catfish had 6.

Sounds like a good day. How was the wind? I was thinking it would be too much of a hassle so I went up the Wak. Caught gooduns in the first 30 minutes near the ramp and then started running into a bunch nasty stuff on the surface everywhere else I went. Did not catch anything else in 2hrs so packed up and went elsewhere. Guess I should went ahead and hit the main lake.

They are smart enough to know when not to hang out with someone that's not catching fish.

They won't let me catch fish from the back of their boats and I don't seem to be catching any from my own boat. May have to change my no weekend fishing stance iffen the fish continue not cooperating during the week days.

Had a super time -- Thanks Ron for driving,,Great job.
Ron also had a good battle with a 18"+ wiper on his 10' rod.:D
We were off the lake about noon -- wind was starting to kick up some.
This was the 1st time I used a 10' rod.:DGoing to takes some getting use to
so I don't keep hitting Ron along side the head when I boat fish:D:rolleyes:
    I still can't believe crappie hitting a 3"tub Pumpkin /Char. 3/32 jig head:D

Thought I was needed to go the emergency room, but figured they wound not understand all the welts. Was back on the lake again today, back seat was empty, safe for this day. Caught 2 eyes off the swiming beach point, 17 crappie in the same area as of yesterday. Chadku, same place I told you about last year. Sloppy Joe was there also, he was trying to get the rest of his limit when I left. Another great day here in Eastern Kansas.

Thanks Ron for the good report and showing me where to fish (need all the help I can get). I fished til 3pm and was able to cull 3 of the 10-1/2 ers, ended with 19, lost 2 nice fish after you left so you weren't the only one losing big fish, sure is aggrevating though. There were two guys at the cleaning station with 10 wallys and another guy with 6 big channels and 1 nice flat head (from the Kansas river), sure was nice being able to clean fish at the lake. I was planning on going back tomorrow but the weather isn't going to cooperate, maybe later this week and I hope the pattern continues. A good day with good company!

Ron and slabby- I was out on clinton today as well. Didn't see you guys but I don't remember what your boats look like. We trolled the swim beach area for a short time but blanked there. Picked up a few whites and a crappie trolling north side of island then decided to find the wipers and boy did we. They were stacked in front of the shower house close to the no ski bouys at the beginning of the waki. Cought them on fluke jrs. on orange heads eleven feet down in twenty fow. Most fish were 18 to 20 inches on med spinning gear with 6lb. test really test your drag. Probably caught 20 or so. Really crapping all over when you got them up so unbuttoning them boatside was a must. Loads of fun.

Those wipers are sure fun to catch, really make a ten foot crappie rod bend. I will try and find them next time out.
