That is a nice sized hybrid. Note the broken lines on the fish's side.
Holy *hit Batman!!!! That fish is huge, I bet it has striper gentics in it.

That's a Striped Bass Hybrid (Wiper). Note the There's no way a white bass would grow that big. They get about as big as crappie with the world record being around 5lbs or so. Anything about an 8lb white bass would just be another "fishing story".
Nice fish, though even though it isn't gonna break any records.
Guess we'll see...............the fish is supposedly in Texas for DNA testing. There are not any hybrids stocked in Toronto. Seems unlikely a guy would go to this much work if he thought it was a hybrid. It's my understanding that the double tounge patch is the easiest way to determine if it's a hybrid, sure would think the guy would have done that layman test at least..................
Let's see if this works.
The Hybrids may not be stocked in Toronto but that doesn't mean that there can't be a few in there that have gotten in through a tributary during high water, or could have been released when it was smaller by another angler that jumped from one hole to another.
Either way this one got in there and it was caught. There is no way on earth I'm ready to start believing that the white bass world record was just nearly DOUBLED.
I've caught enough whites AND Hybrids to know what they look like. Any white bass over 3 pounds would look insanely fat (much like a 20 plus pound black bass would), especially this time of year when staging to spawn. This fish is a decent but average HYBRID.
Anyone who has ever caught huge white bass (over 3 pounds) knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I heard yesterday that KDWP found after testing that it is a Wiper.
darn i just knew it was a white

this could be the record white??
