Default Fisherman shot at boat ramp....

Fisherman shot to death at Smyrna boat ramp | WKRN News 2

Have taught hunter safety the last few years before I retired and can remember that I never thought I would ever need to carry a firearm when fishing. With today's world the way it is and more shootings taken place I would consider getting a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Hate the thought of doing that but it would definitely be a game changer in the event something materializes. Gotta remember...can't control people, just how you react to them. Have heard about 3 or 4 shootings near lakes (nation wide) this year. Druggies and thieves are getting brazen and breaking into homes in our area to get prescription medicines....a boat ramp with vehicles (with personal property in it), is only a temptation waiting to happen.

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 53-year-old fisherman was shot to death at a Smyrna boat ramp late Friday morning.

Police say William Hawkins of Murfreesboro was interrupting a crime in progress when he was shot and killed at Mona Boat Ramp in Smyrna.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said witnesses heard the shooting at around 11 a.m. and then found Hawkins, who died at the scene.

“We extend our sympathy to the Hawkins family for his tragic death,” Sheriff Robert Arnold of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said. “We are thoroughly investigating to determine who is responsible for his murder. We are ever vigilant in keeping our communities safe.”

The witnesses are being questioned by authorities. The investigation is ongoing and will be worked on through the weekend.

Evidence was collected at the crime scene and an autopsy will be performed on Hawkins.

People with information are asked to call Detective Kyle Norrod at 615-904-3043 or Capt. David Hailey at 615-904-3113.
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN

Brownback signs bill that allows permit-free concealed carry of guns in Kansas | The Kansas City Star

On early morning launches at remote seldom used ramps is where I tend to think maybe a CC might not be a bad idea. With Kansas's new law now should I or should I not carry without a CCL? My first inclination was to take the CCL training just to be familiar with all laws before actually carrying so as to not run afoul of any laws while carrying.

Some people call me an idiot but I believe it saved me on night on Clinton I use to like to fish nights. loaded my boat into the lake going to get in it and I was approached buy this man . he started asking me questions and saying how dangerous fishing alone at night was I told him I wasn't alone he looked up at the parking lot and said well I don't see any one .I got that funny feeling and said I never fish alone while putting my hand on my pistol stuck in my front waist band ,and I didn't take my hand off it till he turned real fast and walked away. and yes it was before it was legal to do so. If you can read Nra magazine you will see how many lives have been protected buy legal gun owners. unlike our politicians today our founding Fathers believed and knew that evil exist and people need the right to protect themselves. From all forms of attacks. They knew God had to be part of our freedoms and so many are fighting to remove him from our nation.

wow. I've not had an opinion of CC either way, but after hearing and seeing so much non-sense going on, and it creeping into my passion of crappie hunting...I may have to explore this as a necessity.

Bruce your attitude sucks. Every man in America has a right to protect themselves. In case you haven't heard guns do not kill people but the idiot that holds it. I hope you never get in a position where having a gun will make the difference between going home to the wife and going to the morgue. Me I am going home to my wife. I don't live in a fantasy world where I don't worry about someone robbing me and killing me for 20 dollars. You sound like a Clinton fan.

' In case you haven't heard guns do not kill people but the idiot that holds it." I don't understand your beef. "Just what we need, more idiots carrying more guns." So if you put more guns in the " IDIOTS" hands you tell me what will happen. And yes I am a Clinton fan.
