Default POMONA LAKE, OUTLET,FISHING TACKLE. LODGING, AND CAMPING

Went turkey hunting at our farm near Pomona this week and would like to share a bit of our experience.

First as everyone knows the amount of water around is ridiculous! Our small wetlands were over topped and or still flowing out the top gate. Pomona Lake is up in the Marina and park by the dam I think it is probably closed but didn't drive over there. The COE campground by the Dam is really nice. Not very big but well managed and a nice guy running it. Talked to the COE manager for the lake. Really good guy too. Gave pointers on where to find some turkeys that were not ankle deep in water! Population is down some in the area but we did get a jake.

We stayed at the motel at Lamont Hill on hwy 368 by the golf course. Should have driven down to the marina and checked it but got sidetracked hunting and never made it. The motel is old and very basic but somewhat refurbished with microwave, cable tv,refrigerator, good beds, clean and cheap; $46 for 2 adults. Less for multiple nights. We were worried when we pulled in and about 6-7 LEO vehicles were there but they were all there for the lunch buffet. We did not try it but the food at Green Acres Restaurant was better than ever!

The gas station next to Green Acres has a great selection of crappie fishing baits. Have minnows...kinda pricey at $3/dz.
The water was roaring out of the outlet. 5-6 people fishing. Watched for 20 minutes while we ate lunch. Nothing caught.
