    Default Milford lake 7 July

I did not get any pictures today but the Wipers were hitting good. I started trolling with two rods one pulling plugs and one with a bottom bouncer and a wedding ring. The plugs were not getting it done and everything was caught on wedding rings. The water was really dark and had a heavy algie bloom to it. I caught seven cats trolling crawlers the biggest one went about eight pounds, five channel cats and three Blue cats. I ended up with nine wipers with the biggest one going 20 inches. Off the water by 11AM. Too hot to fish in the middle of the day. I hope you all had a good 4th of July weekend.

similar to a walleye worm rig?
    What's the actual "ring" part?

It is a rig I starting using in Washington State when I was stationed out there, we used it to troll for Trout. I have found it to be highly effective on Walleyes here in Kansas using a lindy rig or bottom bouncer. The ring is a fake diamond ring surrouned by beads. I hook a single night crawler behind it hooked through the head.

Default Milford Lake Placed Under Lake Wide Blue Green Algae Warning

Milford Lake Placed Under Lake Wide Blue Green Algae Warning | JC Post

    Posted 18 hours ago
    By Kevin Griffith
Milford Lake is now under a lake wide toxic blue green algae warning.
The algae has slowly progressed as the northern half of the lake was placed under a warning three weeks ago. Last week KDHE kept the northern half of the lake under warning, and placed the southern half under an advisory. Now the warning is lake wide.
R.J. Harms, Corps of Engineers Project Manager at Milford Lake, explained toxin levels came back higher in both the northern and southern parts of the lake this week.
“We had folks out yesterday on the lake taking some water samples and they came across numerous areas on the lake where the green algae and the cell counts were really high. You could see green scum on the surface of the lake, and that wasn’t restricted to the north half of the lake, that was in areas of the southern half of the lake to,” Harms said.
Under a warning any contact with the water (swimming, skiing, tubing, jet skiing) is prohibited. Boating and fishing is still allowed despite the warning.
Harms did mention that so far this summer he has not heard of anyone becoming ill from contact with the toxic algae,”from any pet impacts or children and humans. Fortunately for us that’s a good thing but you know the potential is there.”
KDHE will be back out to test again Monday with results expected later in the week.
