Leavenworth county lake is closer and has a good number of crappie
My family and me recently moved to the fort leavenworth area. I fish from the bank and I hear Perry lake is the best place to catch some Crappie. Is this true? Summer is hard to fish from the bank but I would really like to catch some so my wife who hails from Georgia can try these tasty fish. Thanks.

I use to live in the Manhattan KS area for 13 years when we were stationed at Fort Riley.
I really miss the fishing there. Good folk out that way too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-jCSc8rbSw My daughter caught this from the shore at Leavenworth State Fishing Lake when we lived at Fort Leavenworth. We had a little boat, but had tied up to "explore" and we pitched in her pink zebco with a nightcrawler and bobber. Brad

If you live in Leavenworth the Fort has some nice ponds, I used to do good fishing them when I was a Kid, of course that was a couple of Centuries ago.
Welcome to Kansas
When they are releasing water out of Perry you can have some luck fishing below outlet also.
