Opening weekend of pheasant season....

I'm glad you found a few birds! I imagine you probably did better than most last weekend. Did you see many other hunters? The only downside to the boom of a few years ago was the number of hunters, especially road hunters, seemed to be way up. Last year we hardly saw anybody, but only killed one bird between two guys for the weekend. We saw a few more, but they were getting up 100+ yards away when we stepped out of the truck.

We really didn't see that many other groups. Guess the forecast kept a lot of people home.

Sorry to hear about your beloved hunting buddy and best friend, I recently lost both of our dogs within a month and I feel your pain. Dogs are Gods greatest example of " unconditional love" and I hope in time you'll be ready for another "best friend", the memories do help.

I don't get as excited as I did when I had a GSP. He died in 2010. I still try to go once a year though. Didn't go last year due to work and this year there aren't any birds. We have family that farms in NC Kansas they told us to save the money. Did see a covey of quail after I got done duck hunting this morning.
