Rapala Original Floaters are usually pretty good during spawn.

So I went out on my priveate lake 300 acres (Sherwood Lake) and hit the damn and a rocky boat ramp. sunday..hoping for walley....threw a RC2 crank for about 1 hr and got some really nice prespawn bass and a crappie. got 4 total and two hits in two spots shallow. all 3-4 lbs... pretty good for that lake. No walley.

Question, if you are catching and removing spawning fish, are you hurting the fish. Just a question not a judgement

Thats a good question and it comes up every year on forums when it comes to spawns of every species especially walleye. The answer to me lies on what each individual believes since it is not illegal in Kansas like other states were it is illegal to take walleye during the spawn. Those states that have made it illegal have much better natural recruitment from the spawn of there walleye than Kansas does. If you were to fish for them during the spawn and not want to effect the possible future fish in your lake you could release the females. Here is a link of how many fry alone that KDWP stocked in our reservoirs last year they stock intermediates and fingerlings as well. As you can see numbers are in the millions for many of these lakes. Also spawning walleye aren't the easiest to catch since they aren't interested in eating to much it is kind of a challenge.
