As much as marine plywood costs I think I would look into aluminum flooring and then adding carpet...maybe a textured paintjob if carpet isnt desired.

OK, I am convinced that aluminum is the way to go on this replacement. I have a sheet of 1/4" aluminum plate but it will be impossible for me to cut this in a single piece to get in my boat. This will require that I have some joints in the aluminum sheeting. How would you deal with the joints? I plan to glue carpet to the aluminum after it is installed.
