Very nice looking jigs and love the hooks. Those would work for many other species of fish for sure. Love the eyes too. I am still trying to find or make myself a jig turner for clear coating so it is easier to do lots of jigs at the same time over the eyes.

Did you use a base coat and then sprinkle on different colors or is it all done with the paint brush?
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Thnx – VMC hooks were top notch – now the newer VMC are good, still like them.
Have found if you use thin coats of clear coat FP you really don’t have to rotate the jig like you would have to do when you using epoxy. FP dries too quickly.
I don’t like using a base coat with the powder paint because it builds up to thick on the jig – the smaller the jig - less area to cover (work with).
I use the brush to hold light fluffed paint (one brush per color) and reheat the jig between applications. That’s where using a heat gun makes it easier to do the multi colors.

The real secret is heat control.

Ff46, JJJ, and Pup – thnx again,

Pup – I tried doing the eyes – found out it’s easier to buy them. Did do some with sequins, tiny beads, and glue. I like the 3D and decal eyes with holographic backgrounds. If I could paint eyes like you do – would probably stick with that.

Where did you get your heat gun? Is there a size and model that you would recommend? I've been using bic lighters forever, time to get out of the stone age.

The one I use is too much for what I'm using it for. I like the multi temp settings and it is on an adjustable stand. Probably find a good deal on ebay - harbor freight is good also. Mine came out of McMaster Carr (ouch). You must have a big callous on your thumb...

Callouses on thumbs, index fingers.. I have a heat gun that I used to strip paint, but it has only two settings.High setting is 900,which is a little scary.I'll check ebay. Thanks ledhed.
