I try my jigs 1st, if they don't produce, then I will use tubes, and if that don't work, I hate to admit it, but I will go to the bait shop and drown a minner or 3. If that don't work, start over and go thru the routine again...

My thoughts on it, Anyone can catch fish on a store bought tube, not everyone can tie a jig and catch fish on it.

Besides, feathers digest better than plastic.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I usually use tube jigs more so than hand tie ones. I try the tubes 1st, if that don't work, after like 20 or so different colors of tube jigs that I have in my box, then I would fall back to my hand tie jigs.

But, I usually lose them in rocks or brush piles so I just pour my own jigs.

I tie my own since, crappie are picky at times when they do not want tubes.

I use my tied jigs and tube jigs and also the best of both worlds my tube n tail jigs. Its all fun, creative , and they all catch fish. I am always looking to make and try the next one. Its all part of it.
