Re-size them after you take the pics and download them on your computer. Don't cut it down on the cameras as that will take some of what you want away. So take the shot with all your mega pixels and then crop and re-size after you crop them.

You can even re-size them at photobucket. I do mine on my computer with photo software from Roxio. One thing I like about that software is I change it to tell the pixels and then I just change the first one to 640 and hit enter key and it will auto to the other side.

That is just my opinion though.

Skip's got a good method there.

If you don't have any software and you're using photobucket:
Take a picture with your camera on max pixel settings.
    Upload to photobucket
Then at the top of the photo (while in photobucket) it will give you the option to resize.
    Choose the large 640x480 size
    Copy the "URL" link
Post the "URL" link in a post

Be sure to crop it first so the whole picture is what you want and not all the other stuff around it.
Most of my jig pics don't start out as just the jig like in my Sig. After cropping it then we get what you see.

Whoops, I forgot the cropping part. I guess since I never crop the picture.....maybe I need to start doing that.

I have a full version of MS Office 97 on my laptop - it includes a photo / image editor....

What I did (for the swap) - took the pics on my daughters camera (Thanks Amy!), and downloaded to the computer. After that, I used the crop function to eliminate as much background as I could - but even after cropping, they were still large - about 260K.

There are two re-size options in MS Office - one where you tell it the the height and width on pixels (scroll boxes or via keyboard), or you can be lazy - like me, and choose the option for document, webpage or email. I used the the webpage option, and got images of about 50-60K bytes, which is perfect for posting on the forums here.

    Default resize

Im no whiz, but I just save them as normal then hit open with MS Paint. The i go to the tools/resize tab and reduce to about 35-40% and save as _____b version. If I ever see a "b" i know its a reduced version for web/email. I try to have method to my madness.
