    Default Kitty Surprises!

Yum, catfish! Read how Flatfish46 got 9 on jigs in 2 days - I've got a few here & there on little jigs & was wondering if others are getting em on crappie jigs and what size(fish and jigs) ?

    Default catfish

Some of my lakes i actually catch more bass than crappie on crappie jigs. Recently my crappie lake was over run with bullheads so its no big deal to catch 1/2 dozen. Other lake we catch a few channel cats here and there. My biggest cat on crappie rod was a 10# channel. Largest bass was 5#. Early this spring on one trips using redworms in my crappie spot i caught over 40 bullheads and i think only 3 crappie.

1/16 oz. jigs My best fish this year came from lake Tyler just a sniff over 3lbs. many years ago My dad would go to the spillway at LOP and fish a solid blaze-orange jig with catfish charlie smeared on the tail and catch a limit of pan size channels this way He saved money and He was smart.

I catch young Blues and Channels all the time chasing shad schools. Can't remember the largest, but there have been times when the cats are biting and the crappie are not. About three weeks ago, I caught about twenty 3/4 to 2 lb blues on a 1/16 chrome head, blue body, and gray/white tail. They were chasing 1" shad on the surface.
