    I personally don't use varnish, I use D2T, (Devcon 2 Ton). It is an epoxy finish and very hard when dry, and it brings out the color in my jigs and spinnerbaits. I don't use anything else, not to say other clearcoats don't work as well. If you are just making crappie jigs and you are powder painting, then you don't need anything else. I pour and paint what I sell, so I use it on my jigs to show my work. I'll post some pics later.

    It would be O.K. to coat with Hard-AS-Nails!

    Although these aren't crappie jigs, here are the pics I promised. The spinnerbait has the epoxy finish on it the other pic shows some prototypes I've painted. As you can see, there is no depth to the paint, because there is no clearcoat on the bottom pic.
