$200 I think should get you started pretty good. I bought a cheaper vise to start and it worked fine. Materials mostly all came from Skip (Skiptomylu here on cdc). Lots of good videos now on YouTube to watch and learn from. As far as materials like mentioned most came from Skip who is recovering from shoulder surgery and unable to reply right now. Lots of places to buy from, below are some I’ve used.

    Woods and Water Outdoors
    Nimrods Tackle
    Crazy Angler
    TJ’s Tackle
    J. Stockard
    Barlows

    Hopefully this helps you out.

That does help, thank you! Now I just need to decide what materials, what powder paint colors for jig heads ( I'm assuming that is going to push me over $200), and thread. I'm pretty lost with it all bc there's so many options, I will get it narrowed down though. I'm trying to avoid the kits bc with anything I've ever done the kits usually have a lot of junk in them.

You can got to Woods and Water website and buy everything you need. Patrick carries chenille, feathers, jig heads, thread and paint. His site is really a one stop shop outfit.

Ok, thank you. I have a vise and tools in a cart at one place and then materials in a cart on another site. Just finishing up research and making sure I can't find something better before ordering.

Default For Someone New To Tying

    hello everyone,

I’m a fellow jig maker/tier and I’ve been making jigs for 2 years now and was wondering what some good alternative materials are? I tie my tails with Krystal flash and I make my body’s with twisted chenille. Is there any other better alternative materials that give the bait more flow/action in the water? Or any ways to make your baits stand out from the rest?
My last sale was January 2nd and I’ve been looking through the forums and looking at people’s jigs and they look great. Such as JungleJimJigs! His jigs are beautiful and I like his concept. Also what are good websites to order materials from?

    Sincerely, DanesTackleBox

Have you tried marabou or rabbit? Those are two of the most action materials I'm aware of. For websites I'd go for sure to Woods and Water Outdoors. Patrick has very good materials.
