Thats a big ten four hand..How much a jig should
I charge bro
It's hard for anyone to tell you that especially with out seeing them, in hand so quality can be seen. I see jigs for all kinds of prices, but if you wholesale your jigs, then you have to sell for a lot less than retail as they need to make 40% or it's a looser for them. This is a business than can cost you time on the water too because once a business then you have to keep the supply coming.
Thank you for all of the great information folks. This is the reason I found the site on a search engine to begin with. I am hoping to make the plunge in a couple of weeks when I get paid again. Thanks again and stay safe all, Bobo
Thanks everybody for the great info,I'm thinking this winter I will get into this more.
I to have thought about making and trying to sell hand tied jigs. the main problem I see is that today we have to many people that want cheap made imported crap from wal-mart raather than pay a few cents more for something handmade from the USA that keeps our money here and help support someone that has no other income. Just my
FISH ON
I have been giving some thought to maybe trying my hand at making a few Crappie jigs. My Question is Why use all these wild colors? I have Never seen Bugs or insects that even come close to looking like some of these jigs I have seen being made. So can someone let me in on this? I have always used Minnows or soft plastics, at least they Look like the real thing.
Why use all these wild colors!!!!!!! Plain and simple they catch fish!!!!!!!! Are there days when live bait will out fish jigs - YES. But, there are days when all they want is jigs and even live bait is ignored - you do whatever it takes to catch them. You can tie simple jigs Black head, black bucktail or maribou you have a great leach pattern. You can tie a bunch of different trout fly patterns on jigs and they will work!! There some really nice two tone painted heads with a greyish black and white pearl belly and different chenilles to match a minnows colors, turning the tables on that one rosy red minnows - you can tie a pattern on jig for that but you match the materials.
We love tying and experimenting - I have more stuff than I'll ever use but yet!! I still buy more. And I can safely say most all of us are like that. We keep trying to come up with the perfect pattern, and no matter how much someone says I'm only going to buy the materials to tye jigs that I use all the time - you will start buying other stuff!!!
Well folks, two great things happened today. 1. We got the phone line reconnected back to the house (DSL) , so I now have internet again. 2. I took the plunge and made my first few jigs today. I will post some pics up in the jig picture thread later this evening. Thanks for all of the help and tips that all of you have given us newbies on here. Without them I probably would not have had the courage to take the plunge. Thanks again, Bobo
