Default Field testing wedge tail fox jigs

I hadn't gotten out in over a week but since we finally got some rain I went to my low river spot to see if the river was rising from the rain. River is up a foot from last visit and still rising. Started with 1/16 wedge tail fox jig under a float but no takers so removed the float. Couple minutes later I get whacked by a white bass about 2#. Next cast another nice one. Started to get excited and next cast another good one, three in a row. Then nothing for ten minutes so went to a heavier 3/32 and caught another good one. Tried other side of the discharge and caught two smaller white bass, probably males and one Largemouth. Good morning for being cold, started fishing with air temps at 34, up to a balmy 41 when I left. Name: IMG_5018.jpg

A couple might have been small hybrid striper, not sure. Lot's of fun on light tackle. Just started using 6# Stren gold for visibility and it passed it's initial test. No problems seeing it and tying knots. Will try again tomorrow. I've released everything so far this year but thought of keeping them but didn't have a cooler to put them in. Don't need many for a meal or two.

If seeing your line is difficult try some Sufix in the tangerine color. It's even better than gold.
