If they list three colors it’s usually head/body/tail color. With two colors I would assume it’s just body/tail.
If I ask someone to send me their best recipe for a Pink jig, for instance, and he replies “Pink/White” what does that mean? Is he saying a pink tail and a white chenille body, or what?
What About if he sends a 3 ingredient recipe? Something like “Pink/White/Chartreuse” what does that mean?
Thanks

Yes, that’s what I would think it is.
There wasn't many colors to choose from crappie jig wise when I grew up in the 60's and 70's but used to buy the pink head/white body and tail by the card. I think pink refers to head color with white body and tail or pink head with just a white marabou tail. A three color bait would be pink head, white body and chartreuse tail. Both combinations are killer crappie jigs.
Thanks guys! I knew someone here would know. I spent my life tying fishing flies for Bream, but I'm fairly new to jig tying. So, I'm trying to learn the ropes.

i had another tyer tell me years ago. that when reading a fly recipe . its written in order of tying on hook. such as hook, thread, tail material, body material, top wing bottom wings, stick on eyes, cement head. FYI
As stated above, if two colors are listed the first is head and the other is body and tail. Three colors listed is Head/Body/Tail. Least wise that is the way I've always interpreted it to be.

When people buy from me without a reference photo, I tell them give me a head/body/tail color. Some colors I have MULTIPLE shades of, and I'll narrow it down a bit from there.
As said, head body tail. One of the ones I use is a pink head and body a longer than normal white maribou tail. The Gray Ghost is my hands down favorite. An added pice of flash is added to most of my jigs.
