First attempt in over 2 years at this. I used flat silicone strands and 70 denier thread. I need to get me some round legs, and heavier thread. He used 3/0 thread on his, which builds up way faster.

Nice. Looks buggy.
Lots of legs. Looks durable and likely to have enticing movement.
Back in the archieve is some pics of what Sonny, aka LedHed has caught on this lure out in Lake Perris, CA, as well as Lake Havasu,AZ. Tipped with a Red Worm or Cricket, plate size Red Ear, Bluegills, Crappie and others have been slain. Thought I'd get some in my box and give them a will in the waters around here.
Like ketchn, LedHed is a master at ketchn fish. Coppernose, and Redear that has no problem of hiding a mansized hand. Back here it's hard to believe. Don't believe me, picture proof is in our archives right here on crappie.com.. Go to the search box and type in LedHead, and scroll down to the entry LP 05 31 17.
I miss hs posts. I don't think he has posted since 2021. Hope he's doing well. If anyone knows, please let me know. Till then Prayers he's well.
Anyway, check out some of those posts of some beautiful, gargantuan fish he has caught on this lure he, and his daughter came up with, many years ago.

Still haven't heard no info on how He is, but yep, I'm hoping they'll do well here. I used the flat silicone for the tail and arms/wings as that's what I have. I'm awaiting on some round rubber legs like Sonny used. My local shops, Plateau F.S. as well as BPS, don't have any. So it's the old order and wait. Forgot how-to incorporate the 4 legs into the figure 8 wrap, but got it after several attempts.

I haven't heard from him in a couple years, called and texted several times but no response. He is the master of the auto jig. He showed me how he ties them when I was out there one year and I still couldn't duplicate them. He had a way of spinning the thread to get that 3/0 thread to lay flat which is key. Some patterns he used flat rubber and others were tied with the round rubber. I still have some of those autos somewhere.

Eric, I’ve found some round in spinnerbait skirts in the past but be careful of the diameter. They’re sometimes tougher than we need.
