    Default Bluegill jig tail material?

I mainly use squirrel tail but would like to hear what your favorites are. Thanks.

I use fox squirrel tail but I also use raccoon tail as it is a finer hair. The mix of brown and black hair to me seems more "bug like". I have asked a buddy to harvest a grey squirrel to add to the mix. A coon tail can last a loooong time depending on how many you tie.
1 shot and you are golden for a long time. Coyote might be a good hair too, although I haven't tried it.

Thank you sir. I have fox, grey, and black squirrel, just looking to change it up. Seems like I sent my coon tail off for someone else to try. Just remembered I have some rabbit strips. Think I will trim some off of those!.

Squirrel. Or rubber. The rest just get chewed up quickly

Thanks. Any specific rubber? Some seems pretty stiff. I have something that really wiggles but is full of curls! Kiptail is a great reminder. I have several tails with great colors. Thanks!

Look up fine rubber legs at the fly tying shops. Its expensive for what it is, but they move a ton. Tie in loosy then use locking wraps to secure. I prefer about 5-6 strands for a tail

I have a big 'ole fluffy Fox tail I'll tie one up with occasionally. It is white though.
