Looks good and I've found they like the black baits here.
I was out Saturday fishing for trout through the ice holes along the dock. There was a guy fishing with a 1/16 black road runner with a nickel blade sitting on a bucket and every few minutes it seemed he would be hooked up with one. Didn't have any blade baits with me and nothing solid black but managed a dozen or so trout in the couple hours I was there. Yesterday, conditions were windy so decided to make some black bladed jigs. These are 1/16 on #6 sickle hooks. Some spinners and prop baits using marabou and shimmer rabbit strips in silver and gold. Been a long time since I have painted a solid color jig. I will have one of these on when I fish tomorrow.
Nice work

Black is an overlooked color that works very well for many species. The propeller jigs are tricky to tie sometimes and a single strand of flash can impede the action of the bait but they spin and flash like crazy and are fantastic for vertical jigging. I bet they would be killer with live scope.
Hit the city park lake yesterday. Cold and winds up to 25 mph so knew I wouldn't be fishing long. Still had ice on 75% of the lake. Started with my purple bunny but no interest so tied on a black pillhead spinner and only fished it for a couple minutes before I hooked up with a nice one about 16". Couple minutes later hooked it's twin. Ended up catching 8 rainbows in 1.5 hours before the cold got the best of me and I had to leave. All were caught on the black spinner.

Real nice jigs!
The best thing my dad ever gave me was his love of fishing.
