    Default Whip finish

I have had about the last 20 jigs or whip finish come untied, I have been using this tool religiously for about 20 years so I know how to use it, I usually rotate it about 5 times before I turn loose of it, don’t know if it’s the thread or I didn’t get it tight enough or what, anybody ever had this to happen?

Could be thread. I whip 5 and then whip another 3. I then pull to the point of the thread breaking. Know of some that pull until thread breaks off.

Are you using a glue or lacquer to hold thread? Might help keep from unwrapping if not.

superdave I have hardly ever used any lacquer or glue to hold my thread, this is the only time I have ever had this problem, I have a new bobbin that is not as tight as my old ones, and I think that’s the problem, but not sure.

this is the first time I have ever had any to come loose. Back in the day all we did was put half hitches in them, never had one of those come loose either. Don’t know what was happening, used some of the jigs today catching 25-30 crappie off one jig and no problems.

I like a little glue myself. It certainly locks everything in place
