Default I am about to take the UV plunge and I need recommendations

I have finally decided to start using UV resin to start coating my jig heads, what brand and consistency would everyone recommend? I will be using an UV light and/or sunlight to cure. Thanks for all the help!

Solarez Diamond is best I’ve found. I get it off Amazon. Make sure it’s the daikons as the other stuff is brittle or be tacky to the touch.

If you want to coat the whole outside of jig heads as a clear coat, you will need to make a UV curing box and dip resin like you would a crankbait. You will not get a nice even coat with drops and a flashlight.

If you are coating thread wraps, solarez thin is what I like but you will need a good flashlight. If you are going to use the sun, i would think you still need to set with a flashlight to keep it from running first.

I just use a cheap model brush to paint UV resin on. I paint about 12 and then zap with a 50watt UV light I got off Amazon. I then place in a jig holder in the sunlight. If no sunlight then I have a make shift UV
drying box with the 50watt light.

Here is a thread I have demonstrating a lot of jig heads I’ve applied UV with a cheap model brush.

Reading the bottle of the Solarez Diamond it says will only yellow if overexposed with UV light. Have you had any issues with yellowing?

No I haven’t and I’ve left out in sun 2-3 hours. I would imagine if you left out in sun for days on a rod in a boat maybe.

Now if I was applying to more than just a jighead like a crank bait I would dip.

I would recommend getting a small bottle and see if you like 1st.

if just wanting to apply eyes then use BSI 30 minute 2 part epoxy. Eyes will never come off and doesn’t yellow.

if you are looking for an extra layer of depth then use epoxy.

I have the Solarez torch and wouldn’t think it would yellow it unless left for a very long time. It’s a pretty powerful UV light.
