Default Where to get quality marabou?

I have been tying jigs for just a few months, the first feathers I tried were marabou, I couldn’t get them to look right, I had a lot of waste and were super messy, 3 colors from BPS. I decided I was through but I thought maybe it was just low quality? I thought I would give it another with some high quality. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Skiptomylu here on CDC
    Woods and Water Outdoors
    Nimrods Tackle
    Barlows Tackle
    Crazy Angler
    J Stockard Fly Fishing
    Chuck and Deb online

Many other places online. Most come from same company though, Hareline or Wapsi. Different types of marabou also. Most use Blood Quill. Hope this helps some.

When ordering from J Stockard look at their extra select marabou. Skip and Woods and Water sells great quality marabou in a lot of colors.

Everyone listed here plus Tigofly on eBay. Comes on a slowboat from China but it's free shipping and usually to your door within 14days of ordering, and a pretty good deal when you order several colors. I don't have one single preferred source. Different folks have different colors that I like. One thing I like about Tigofly is a lot of their bou is small tufts without a real central rachus (stem), and it's almost perfect for a jig. One or two pieces with the very bottom/hard part of the quill snipped off to spread the fluff around and it's perfect.

I use a dog hair brush, with the wire bristles, to comb out my feathers prior to using. Then strip the feather material off of the stem to tie with.
Maybe they will bite this one……

PM me or send an email! Just for example I tear off the barbules from the stem and use just them mostly. I make a stack of them until I have enough and then I pinch the stack about where I want to cut off the torn ends and tie it in.
Oh and I mostly use Blood Quills, but not everyone has the better marabou!
