No reason that you can't catch crappie with them
I have heard that the hooks are much higher quality, but I have my doubts, I am referring to like tungsten beads and 50-60 degree fly tying jig hooks.
thanks

There's a guy out of Kansas that all he ties is beads on jig hooks. He has a you tube channel called Crappie Hippie at the bench. Check him out. Pretty good info for sure.

You can get a good sizes in the tungsten beads, I have done that before. Heck probably about 10 years ago I did some of them.
You can get a weight chart for them!

Might be hard to find beads that fit size 6 and larger hooks. I believe they need to be slotted beads?

One can easily tie crappie jigs on fly streamer 60 deg jig hooks. Most fly hooks are of really good quality especially competition hooks. Some are already barbless as well. You'll pay alot more per jig due to the hooks and tungsten beads though. Jigs tied using 4.6mm, 5.5mm and 6.3mm slotted tungsten beads can be casted on UL or light spin gear.
A recent articulated jig using a 60deg shank, 5.5mm slotted tungsten bead, #4 Mustad Addicted hook, rabbit strip and Simi Seal dubbing. Weighs 31grains, a bit over 1/16oz.
These are 4.6mm tungsten bead marabou/simi seal jigs with a Fulling Mills jig force hook, #10s. They weigh 22 grains just under 1/16oz.
