Default How many do you tie

Say you are headed out in a few days and want to tie a few to try out. What is everyone's rule of thumb on how many of each one do you tie in case they are biting and lose one?

I used to do 3 or 4. I have fished braid for years so I can usually bend the hook out and pull free

I would always tie a few of my favorites and one or two test colors. 3 or 4 of each. At the end of the day when I came to the ramp if their was a father with a kid or two I would scoop up what was left and give them to the kid. kids love free stuff and I have a reason to tie next week.

Depends on the time of year. This time of year with suspended fish in most of the waters I fish, usually two, though lately prototypes have just been one.... one just in case I accidentally pitch/drop on a catfish I didnt identify on the scope correctly and he potentially breaks my leader, or messes up the marabou, and a spare.

In warmer months when they return back to wood pretty hard, usually three. One for the reasons above, plus the fact that it's wood and my hook doesn't always bend before the line breaks, and a spare. Usually if I haven't figured out if they'll eat it by the time I lose two, it's a lost cause.

I am pretty sure it was on this forum some years back when I was just getting into the jig tying addiction, someone said they tie one to use, one to lose and one to keep so you can remember the pattern. For the most part, I stick to that idea.

Whatever fits my jig cases and doesn’t get too boring for a customer,,, usually 4-5 different colored jigs each jig….unless they ask for more of a specific color combination,,
