Great Idea Mike. I'll have to give it a try for sure. Are you bending before or after the tie is finished???
Either way they are looking great.
I decided to make some more "Bent Hook Latex Tube Jigs" today. I have been bending the hook shanks about 30 degrees to the right because I found out I can get a better hook set by doing that. Richard Gene The Fishing Machine says if you bend the hook point away from the jig head eye you increase your hook sets. I tried it and it worked so I have been making my jigs like that for the past three months.
Materials used:
1/16 Pill Head sickle hook jig head
10 pound test line (color with black marker) to segment the tube
Rubber legs (Old bass lure skirt)
Yellow latex balloon cut in 1/8" strips (From Dollar Tree)
Red medium size yarn...inside the tube (From Dollar Tree)
Black Permanent Marker (Dots on top of jig)
Orange Permanent Marker (Bluegill Belly marking)
Head Cement (Use on head and entire jig for durability)

Before you even start to tie on the thread.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vIq926vKVL4#searching
Here are the steps.
1) First bend the hook
2) Start your thread wrap and tie on rubber legs
3) Tie on about 9" of 10 lb line. Do not wrap yet.
4) Color the 10 lb line black
5) Tie on tip end of latex strip. Do not wrap yet
6) Tie on and wrap red yarn on the hook shank, into a worm shape
Add 1/2 hitch knot
7) Wrap and over wrap yellow latex over the yarn. Secure with half hitches.
Finally color orange bottom area, add black eye dot, dots on top of lure, and wrap the 10 lb line around the lure to imitate segments. Whip finish. Put head cement on the entire lure and hang to dry.
