Default Rojoguio's Hand Tied Jigs.......Summer to Winter

So Ketchn talked about going down in size in winter especially talking about fishing in heavy cover a while back. I took it to heart and worked up little jigs as seen on the bottom. I wish I had more color combos to photo but have been giving them freely to others when the subject came up. We have something to learn from his ability to comprehend the situational awareness read that connects a Crappie to our hooks. Taking the time to share is a gift in it's self. Takeum and I had a great conversation the other day prompting me to display how I tie a jig. I have my own line of Saltwater Redfishing Flies I have made under contract offshore so Saltwater influences can be seen. Also the big jigs on top are for Ross Barnett, I catch Hammers on them offering something others would not hang in the water much less fish all day for 10 bites.

As Andy has said before the phone does not do the colors justice.

Nice work. I bet those small black ones work good. I tie some similar for where I fish.

I was writing Takeum about the size of those SuperDave, those are tied on a mold my dad had but didn't use as Do-It machined those back when they were manufactured. I really don't know how old the mold is, maybe 35-40 years, but it is marked 1/32 with a #4 hook. Actually it's close to a perfect 1/24 with a #6 Matzou Sickle hook. Must be one of the first molds made. Anyway after reading Ketchn's posts on size I just tried pouring a few as I liked the head profile. Mostly fish those small jigs after the water is in the low 60's with a BPS 1/10oz Clam Shot 4-5 ft above to get down to 20ft of water. I fish in the middle of the river during NIP Tide where the Hurricane flood tides have piled up the Cypress trees. Well I started pulling up Monsters, Crappie Monsters, and have the entire river to myself doing it. With the small hooks patience is required to ease the fish up the first 10-12ft. 16-17in Crappie out of a Coastal rivers here is strong.

I don't care how much you think you know, Reading the Posts of the experiences Crappie Anglers have on this Forum Crappie.com is absolutely Educational! Great people too.

Very nice work. Those on the bottom row could have come from my box, and they work well. Try adding a strand or two of crystal flash but nothing big.

Thank you for your input Skeetbum, there is one single strand of flash across the back but it's Saltwater Flash, the big stuff. I will have to see if I have a smaller size to try.
