That works well. I have also used smooth jaw pliers
I’m new to tying jig heads. Maybe what is posted below is old hat. But hopefully this will benefit some.
You can easily “press” a ball head into a pill head using a bench vise. They come out very uniform and even.
The top image shows a lightweight piece of aluminum facia (anything similar can be used) to prevent the pattern in the bench jaws from roughening up the sides.
I will be asking for help with getting a better finish from the powder coat. That’ll be another post.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass alongJamesdean LIKED above post
You can also take a pair of pliers that have a smooth flat jaw and flatten them that way. I have a pair of needle nose pliers that I have used for this. Usually I just buy pill head jigs for simplicity and consistency.

I've been using smooth jawed plies to flatten mine for years
Be nice to have some of these in 1/16 & 1/8 with wire keepers in them sort of like the free style jig the way crappie pull baits down. Thanks for showing this little trick i may have to do this myself.
Some good ideas! Thanks
