Head was dipped in clear powder paint with UV enhancers. Homemade 3D eyes. This is a great design when held in hand. The eyes pop and have depth and actually do look very nice. Better than the 3D eyes I have bought. The setting of the eyes is easier than gluing 3D, too. I did a dozen really fast.

The UV enhancement appears as a light pastel blue when exposed to low light conditions. The eye is 5 mm, but 6 mm is also an option. Silver/grey is a great color according to all those that fish unpainted heads. LOL

I see the heads as minnow heads, so pretty much any body would benefit from that.

I plan to gift my already made jigs, and start with some new designs for me to fish. This design will definitely be one of them. I have to baby the mold to pour them, but once done they are very nice.

1/16th ounce claimed weight. 1/0 Eagle Claw 571 short shank hook, bronze with a nice barb. Screw Lock system for securing baits. Wedge shaped head, called hatchet head by some.

My area here was the deep dark dead center home for the Seminole Indian nation. The only tribe to elude the union and not sign a treaty. Good fighters in a tough as nails environment. Many members of the tribe were in fact slaves that had successfully escaped their plantations in Georgia. Fight to the death type of fighters.

Maybe I will start calling these Tomahawks.

With all you do with that glue I need to invest in some as well. Seems it would be very handy for any different things

Earlier this year the boat engine began running rough. Mechanic diagnosed spark plug gone bad. Now boat is running rough again. Same symptoms. Not sure what would make plugs go bad.

How do you screw the plastics on, with the way the hook is passed through the body?

Also, if the UV on a jig head is charged the evening before the trip, will they loose their charge overnight?

You can use spark plug pliers to remove one plug wire at a time. This will test all aspects of the electronics for each cylinder, plugs, wires, power packs. If none of the holes don’t cut out when removed, it might be the gas.

    Just a thought…

DD, I fish this jig style all the time when I am not fishing hand tied. It does take a little getting on to and you just flip the tail up as you go around. Keeping the body straight is the toughest part to learn. Tube jigs are the easiest to learn with. I have caught so many fish with on one tube the coil spring starts to look like ribs through the tube and they still can't pull it off.

Grumpy, have you used super glue? If so, how does it compare to the screw?

I like to use collar-less jigs even with plastics. The shaft of the hook is covered with thread, then dacron line is wrapped over that. The dacron is wrapped tight but there are spiral spaces left (between wraps) on the shaft for the glue and plastic to bite. This works very well. My only concern is the super glue may leave an offensive smell for the crappie. All plastics are pre-glued at least a night before. Many are glued weeks or more before fishing. Any thoughts on the question of off-putting smell?
