I'll play old guy and preach safety, safety and be cautious. I have poured lead since the late 70's. Lead can enter your body through the mouth, nose, eyes or burns. Never have food or candy or even a cigarette while you are handling lead. Keep your hands away from your face and wash up good when done with a pouring session. My lead count in my blood stream is so high they wont even accept blood donations from me. Don't file or grind on lead without personal protective equipment ever. Dust from that can contaminate everything in your work area. Never have any form of liquid around molten lead ever. If you spill water into hot lead it will flash and blow lead everywhere. Now that I have got that off my chest we can get to the fun part. You came to the right place with your question. Lot of folks here at CDC are very knowledgeable and keep checking back some folks are off line for a few weeks and then come back.
