Personally my favorite bait for bluegills is a fly called Bream Killer!

That's a panfish bug in the corner of the mouth. Tipped with a Gulp maggot and SlabSauce. Skip, what is the body made of on the Bream Killer?

it has a small amount of lead wire wrapped around the mid shank, then just black chenille. Wing is Squirrel tail also same thing if it has a tail. See link below!

FYI, to fish it just cast out and let sink, when you see the line jerk, you jerk, lol!

Here is my suggestion. You can fish this set up from 1 foot to 20 feet effectively.

I like a olive green or brown head, olive micro chenille and a short squirrel tail of either red or gray squirrel

This one has small silli legs but is just for the style. This one works well also.

I really like those Bream Killers. I tie them with the hook inverted which causes the fly to sink hook point up.

Another great fly is the carter dragon. Here is a link - Bottom Flies - Warmwater Fly Tyer - by Ward Bean. Black or olive rabbit fur as a tail, matching chenille for the body with partridge hackle collar. I like to add a little rainbow flash on the “top” of the fly. This is one of my confidence flies.
