Eric, please tell the wife to be careful when she does go. I know she’s experienced but she also knows how little and how fast things can change. I was blessed the 25 years I ran the roads and finished without incident and pray that she finishes her days driving the same way.

Being snowed in has it’s pluses and I could stand a little of that, but not much. Easy to be patient when there’s nowhere to go.

Thank you Skeet. Yes Sir, yes Sir...I don't care how much experience you have, how many years behind the wheel, or where in the world you have driven, how great of a driver you are...it's the other person that scares the devil out of me. Especially the younger ones who think they are bullet proof, or Mario Andretti.

Years ago, when I was at Landstar, I had to go out with the safety officer, and prove I knew what was going on around my truck. Now we were in the company van, mind you, but as your driving down the road, you have to say what your seeing...i.e. Theirs a person walking down the sidewalk 30ft on the right, theirs a white van approaching the intersection on the left, that red car in the left lane is on the brake...etc., etc. Your constantly looking, eyes never stopping. Left mirror, look ahead, right side mirror, straight ahead, left mirror, right mirror, straight ahead. Failure to do so, you get into an over confident situation that will lull you and thats when trouble strikes...just my way of thinking...

Tied these two last night. Simple enough 1/80th oz jig, Coyote hair, 140 denier thread and some Coyote fur.
The 140 was a bit heavy, but was already on the bobbin.
I also learned to pre-wet the hair/fur. Till it got completely wet, it held that jig, at the surface, weight dangling down. Dipped my fingers in the water and ran it over the hair to slick it back a couple times and it was all cool. Dropped like it should...Name: 20220205_062253.jpg

Sorry about the color contrast between the tail and the background. Here's a better background for the tail.

I had originally left the tips alone and some were darker. However I found that once it all gat wet, that thick, very dense hair, the jig hung tail down. Now that clump of hair was about as big around as a #2 pencil lead when compressed. So I will be putting much less for sure...Name: 20220205_065925.jpg

The owners say they aren't going to do nothing with it like get it plowed so till I can get out I'm sort of froze in. To help while away the time I went on-line to the county library and found a great book on tying. Now granted it's more directed at saltwater Streamers, and Pike, large trout and such, there is still a large amount of info. It's called Fleye Design: Techniques, Insights, Patterns. It sells for between $45.87 and $38.00 on Amazon. I looked in the library and they had it available on Hoopla for free. So far, I think it's an outstanding read. Just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else is interested. I believe it will help me in my tying.
Just before the storm, I received a package from a fellow member with some fox squirrel tails and a racoon tail. I also found a Fox tail, as well as a coyote patch in the local fly shop. So I'll be playing with that. Momma still home as the weather was going to be real rough, she drives semi's reginal, and has me a bit busy on honey do's i can do in the house. Just hoping it's going to stay sunny a few days to get the roads in better shape. That's it for now. will post up some pic's when I get some done up...

Yep Bob, most who are in this park agree. Got pre-approved yesterday, so the house hunting begins. not in a real big hurry, but the sooner the better. Just me and Momma, so nothing big...
