    Default Jig Hair

Hey Guys, I have ordered 2 sets of jigs from 2 guys who advertised on Facebook. I received the first set today but I haven't even paid for the 2nd set. I'm waiting on the tier. They are chenille body and hair tail. I need help in identifying the type of hair. The tails on the set I received today are dyed. There is yellow, chartreuse, white and pink tails. Looking at the pictures, I was thinking that the tails might be stacked buck tail, but it isn't. It's a finer hair, but it's straight, so I don't think it's calf tail. It has the wrong texture to be calf tail. I can do a picture if necessary, but for now, the jigs are in the house and I'm in my office, so no pics for now. Whatever this hair is, it's stacked because all the tips are even. If I had to guess, I would say the hair is a little finer than calf tail and seems to be perfectly straight and stiff (they stand out straight, no sag,) but soft. Any suggestions of what it might could be? What kinds of hair do you guys use when tying jigs?

    Thanks

A picture would help. There a lot of types of hair. Could be from a dog, raccoon, bear, deer belly, deer tail, possum, fox or even a monkey. Yeh...I have seen monkey hair used on jigs. If it grows hair I think someone has used it. Heck I have heard of ones using their own hair.

Thanks, Skip, for deleting the duplicate. I would blame it on the computer, but you would probably see right through that. Call it "Operator Error." I tried to delete it but couldn't find a way to do it.

Yeah it’s all a guess without pic. Squirrel, fox, wolf, craft fur, etc…. I’m going to say fox without seeing it.

I was sort of thinking that too but I’m not educated in all the different hair types so not sure.

My first thought also. Almost looks like a feather stem in center of tail. Lots of tyers call Marabou "hair". One even says its just semantics. ???
