I would say 50 members perhaps. Unsure as many do not show for meetings. I’m guessing we had 30 yesterday.

I am grateful to be a part of the group and look forward to participating in the events,
Gotcha. I was worried. As long as you’re happy.

You’re making mighty fine jigs and putting plenty fish in the boat.

Well I swapped out jigs for the same style except using smaller Indiana blades. We shall see if these do the job later this morning. I plan to run the lines down the side of the boat and stand in the back and look at each. Learned that the extra line out shows a different look.

I have added two more rods to the setup, for a total of 10 rods. I could add even more if planer boards will work with what I already have setup. I plan to test that if the waves are cooperative. I use the Off Shore Tackle Mini boards and they do pretty well except when the waves are rolling. They should but doing sometimes trumps imagination. LOL

Monk’s boat had something like 24 rods, but I don’t think he was trolling along at 1 mph, looks like he was sort fo drifting as many would have been underneath the boat. Besides that many rods would require an extra pair of hands and feet. I might not even like 10 rods. I can fish 8 rods very effectively now and with very few issues. Every so often lines will cross up, but even when I make 90 degree turns they tend to run just fine. For some reason I like to switch directions. Sometimes I get bites doing that as if a fish had been following a lure.

Been thinking about that Bat Jig. It was a good suggestion to try that as the eye of the hook comes off at a flatter angle, (60 degrees) which would work to adjust the attitude of the jig. I will have to make some up and swim them next to the boat and see. That hook has a smaller shank length and that makes the lure more compact. It is also a lot easier to get the plastic properly aligned on the hook so it doesn’t spin.

Here is a 1/4 oz head with Slabonator’s Booty Thumper bait what been trimmed. A blade could sit very nicely up underneath of that and not add much to the length. I will just have to make some up and see what can be done. That hook is very sharp and does well with the crappie. I prefer hooks that stand proud up and above the jig head and leaving a nice gap from there down to the plastic bait.

    Coffee is about ready.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Good looking jig. It should do well. I would think there is a point when the amount of rods out go past the boundaries of fishing and get into the category of work. Much like catfish jugs. I only fish 12 if it is just me and one other person. The limit is 25 jugs out per person. That gets to be a lot of work and less fun

I really like everything on that bat jig pictured up above. The color and shortened length I think will be awesome. Good luck.

I went fishing yesterday and while there were not a ton of fish caught, the ones I managed were of a nice size. One toss back was all. Going to visit another lake today and see how things go.

I did test that lure in the last picture and it hung several nice fish for me. Little tail just swinging as it went. With the heavier head keeping it straight, it looked very natural as it swam. Definitely making more of those. The compact size will serve me well come Winter.

I fished 10 rods but never caught anything on the extra two. No snags or issues, just no fish. Then I set out two planer boards and ran those for a while. The problem is the lines running out the back of the boat have to pass under the planer board’s line. So no casting and fighting fish would be an issue. So if I run planer boards I will run all six and no rods out the sides. Which means that I will probably not run planer boards.

Might have a guest meet me later today and do some fishing. She said she wanted to, but we all know how that goes. An old friend, her father was into fishing and is dying and has gifted her his boat and all his gear. I told her I could show her how to get started. Her marriage is on the rocks and she has a new fling and apparently she wants to take them fishing on her boat.

Our one year anniversary today so the trip shall be short. Wouldn’t go except the bride has to do a few things today and will not be home until about 2:00. She wants to go out to….wait for it….wait….go out to eat. I want to order a bunch of Chinese food and stay at home. The piece of wedding cake that I saved has thawed now and we will sample that later as well. Been a great year for us even though the world wants otherwise. Couldn’t imagine 50 years of marriage.

Hope to have a real mess to clean up when I get back home. LOL

I also run 10 rods by myself and if set up correctly they’re very manageable. There’s times when the bit gets hot and I have to stow a few but not often. Proper separation is key. I use 6,9,and 12’ rods and the long rods have the longest line out and the others shorten accordingly. The four out the back are all 7’ and fanned out some. They are also running 1/8 heads and the rest are 1/16. Works well for me.

The little bait with the trimmed body looks good to me. I use a paddle/boot tail or curl tail on all my lines. That color has done well I. The past for me. Happy Anniversary.
