I always use a loop knot.
Do you guys recommend tying on a hair jig with a loop or tight to the hook. I'm going to start using them more for gill fishing and not sure if they hang in the water like a plastic jig does with a loop knot.

Loop knots work for me. At times I use those tiny little wire snaps as well

Loop if fishing vertical or under a float, if you are casting the jig then it really doesnt matter

I always use a loop knot whether vertical, slip bobber or casting. Doesn't seem to matter and that way I don't need to retie if I switch from casting.

I know I'm the odd man out but I don't use a loop much. Tight to the knot unless I'm in a search mode where I change jigs a lot. Then I use a small duo snap.

I don't use either, but do use a easy clip which allows for a quick change.
If I’m vertical jigging with a 1/16 or heavier jig, tight to the jig. Anything else gets a loop. I’m finding that light jigs on a loop knot snag less when casting into the junk like I do.

I use a quick change clip. Something like Fas-Snap or No-Knot.
I tie my double jig rigs with these and it’s a breeze to change the jigs out.
