Skip would probably know. As far as the regular chenille steam will work. Not sure about the cactus chenille.
I bought some cactus chenille recently
The problem is the chenille is all mashed down flat, there's no body to it.
Is there a trick to getting the fibers back into their rounded shape other than pulling it through my fingers?

Man I have had some like that before and one of the reason I just quit using it. I also had some that would just pull off the cotton too easy, but that wouldn't happen a lot, just more than I cared for. All Mylar chenilles are not equal for sure. Estaz is the top end, but is so costly that I end up liking the Danville Crystal the best as it is less costly than Estaz and in my book better than the rest.
I don't really have a good fix for that from experience since I never tried anything more than trying to force it as I tied it? I did and at time still do even with my Danville if some gets trapped in the wraps too much, before I tighten and whip finish I will take my bodkin and stick it inland pull up to force more of the fibers to stick out. You can try that? Just stick the bodkin in at an angle under a little of the fibers and lift.

You need a quality chenille to make a quality jig. I stop using cheap chenille years ago because you can't get quality work from it.
Thanks guys. I was able to get it to a point that I'm satisfied with it. I soaked it in hot tap water for a few seconds and then pulled it through my fingers several times and it opened up a good bit

Good to know, thanks for sharing.
Just to tag on to my earlier post. That is not a cheap chenille and I glad you got working for you. Infact that is a very nice chenille.
