I would just do chenille body and marabou. Bucktail is better for fishing vertical since your action comes when the hair goes up and down, IMO anyway. It'll still catch fish being trolled/casted no doubt especially with the blade on it.
I have some non collared road runner jig heads but want advice as to what tie them with: bucktail or marabou? This will be my first time tying. What's your experience with bucktail vs marabou in general and used with road runners? Do the fish prefer one over the other? I don't have any chenille so would probably need to order that if tying with marabou? Thank you for your input.

You could use yarn if you don't want to wait for chenille.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
If it were me, I would tie a few of both, not loading up on any one style till the fish vote. Your desire will be to get a nice long tail with the bucktail, but I think it would do better about Twice the length of the hook from the lead to the bend. Maribou is a different animal and I’ve seen some very long tails and some super short, so I’m no help on that. Start somewhere and pay attention to which one the fish like best.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Just put on a really good thread base and before you tie in the hair put just a tiny bit of super glue to keep it from moving after you have it tied in. You don't have a long time to get that hair tied in though.
Personally I don't think anything beats marabou! I have fished them since the 1970's with marabou and still do today.
