1/16th Minnow head / #2 sickle hook in red
Tail/body is craft fur tied as usual, then hackle fashion for the body. Dub brushed back effect.
Highlight colors for effect. Would have liked a Chartreuse highlight, but you swim with what ya got.....
Totally an experiment.
I would have liked some dumbbell eyes to get the true effect.

I think you have an idea that will catch fish. If you had a black back and gray body, or gray back and white body, it would be a natural color for that tie. Bucktail and kiptail would also work, but the craft hair that you used will have lots more action. Good job. The dumbbell eyes I have are in a couple of sizes, and some of them are just plain huge. Salt water I guess. They’re fun to fool with so enjoy yourself, no telling where the idea will go.

When tying a fly pattern on a jig head you have to turn the hook and the eye in the up position in your vise. Jigs ride hook up so you have to tie them that way. Before you paint the head file off the little lead eyes off then paint it. As I said put the hook point and eye up then tie your streamer and then when it's done you can put eyes on the sides of the minnow head.

I appreciate the response...good idea on the plastic necklace for eyes....
In the photo, I had it upside down. The red would be the belly. It wasn't evident but this craft fur had gold flash in already. So it has flash, too.
What I've been trying to do was stumble onto a streamer fly or Clouser style that would have the profile but be heavy enuf to be like a 16th or 32nd oz jig....

A Mickie Finn pattern would be great . i use them on Crappie a lot on a fly rod.
I just did another experiment, it's a 1/8oz with similar profile .... A full profile similar to a streamer but on a 1/8th oz jig head.Sent from my Pixel 3 using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
