    Default Green trout jigs

    Anybody ever tie bass jigs?

If so, I'd like some inspiration, please.

In-Fisherman has written a lot about hair/feather jigs for bass. If you search their site, you’ll find a bunch of articles.

They tend to be bulkier than crappie jigs and are usually dark-colored: black, brown, olive.

Tied these a few years ago. 1/4oz head with 1/0 hook. Body is synthetic fibers. I was trying to imitate a thread fin shad.Name: 20191229_150201.jpg

Nice jigs Tom, did you ever get them wet? I tried some similar a few years back with OK results. Didn’t have the streamer hair like you had for those. Used some orangutan color mixed with root beer color of extra select craft fur. After removing the under fur on the outer layers, the smallies loved em. Always caught nice fish with them.1/0 sickle and some 2/0 regular bend 2X hooks were used.

I'd say that's a damn fine threadfin representative. Thank you for sharing!

Those craws look incredible! It is amazing what someone can do with hair and feathers.

I tied this one up earlier. I think it will work well around here. Prespawn bass seem to love white and chartreuse.

Skeetbum the body material is called EP FIBER and is used a lot by saltwater jig tiers. The fiber behind head gets a light brush on coat of a adhesive called Softex I believe. It lets the body right behind the head hold it's shape well but is still compressible on the bite. I used them for schooling bass and white bass when they under shad schools in open water.
