Sorry guys, Skip especially, preparing to speak at an old friend’s funeral plus a big job outside that my Wife just sprung on me plus, plus, plus. Anyway, Skip’s jigs arrive yesterday and these are really neat. They are a Roadrunner style head with a blue and white tail. Awesome. Skiptomylu, how do you suggest we fish them? They are pretty light. 1/32 oz, I’m guessing. Dock shooting, straight down over brushpiles, etc?

    Thanks

    Sorry for your loss!

The baits are real Roadrunners and even have the imprinted blades from Blakemore. I bought these heads from Blakemore when I had a deal with them. Since I have not bought any in several years I don't even know if I still could. I know the President and part owner of Blakemore at that time and he was the guy I did my deal with.

I fish them in spring and fall mostly long lining moving .4 to .8 MPH! In spring I usually fish them where the main group hang while the run in and out of the really shallows to lay their eggs. The main bunch is out in 6' to 7' of water so I keep my boat in the depth they are in and just keep moving along. Sometimes I may be going back and forth over a relative short run, maybe just 50 yards long and other time I may be going back and forth over 1/4 mile long area, but just stay in the same area in the right depth and catch all you can stand the easy way!
Then in fall I usual;ly can find them near the Hydrilla in 15' of water and still long lining the same speeds and they will come up and get it. I have caught crappie like this in 20' deep water next to Hydrilla in late spring when they are leaving the shallows.

Now if things are not right like when we have had a lot of high water and the lake is going up and down too much they will scatter some and then it's mostly casting and slow reeling.

Not really one I would use in Summer though!

OK, Guys, 2 more sets of jigs arrived for us today. First we have a very nice set by Jamesdean. And a 2nd very nice set by Barry70Stang. You're going to really like both of these sets along with all the others. This is going to be a really nice set of jigs when you get them back, so go ahead and start getting ready for an early Christmas present this year. It's going to be like Christmas in August! And still time to use them this year before the weather turns cold. Well, it doesn't turn cold here until Thanksgiving or later, but you get the idea.

OK, guys, I'm doing this for me as much as anyone, so I can keep up with whose sets have been received and whose are still out there. Please remember that our due date is August 15, so, if you haven't started thinking about finishing tying up your set and getting them in the mail, you need to start thinking seriously about it pretty soon. I'm posting the completed roster of swappers again and beside the names of those guys who have already gotten their jigs to me, I'm putting "Received" to indicate that I have them. There are 9 sets in counting mine and that leaves 7 more sets to go.

Glad they made it their with out the postal service loosing them. I am stoked you like them. Hope they work in that clear water you have. I haven't experienced clear water very much this year at all, by far too much rain. Enjoy them GF, and that pack with multiples in it is for you...

GillFisher, I sure wish I could. Most of the lakes around here are WAY above normal, and some boat ramps still closed after spring rain floods. Finding co-operating fish is extremely difficult this year. I am limited on getting to the water, and amount of time on the water. I think I might have caught maybe a bakers dozen, and not one keeper all year. Sure not good for the freezer for sure...

Dropped my jigs in the mail today. Should get them Monday. I struggled with this swap for some reason. I think it just wasn’t my best work or what I envisioned but I know for fact they work. I used my test jig last weekend and it worked great. Fish don’t care......lol. Have pictures to prove it.

Side note, my post office no longer carry the bubble envelopes. Have to get priority envelopes and they are $8 each! Would have been $16 if I had packaged and mailed there. I found some envelopes and packaged myself then mailed for $7.36.

Man I hate that, thought we would get a troll doll jig...

Go to Wal-Mart. Get two large and two small for 3.98. They come packaged together.
