Just realized I misspelled dud
I guess we all have poured a bad batch of heads or tied a color that didn’t work out the way you thought, what do you do with them. I seen where some guys have melted the heads back down which I have done but what about the ones that have material on them. I guess that tells you how many ugly ones I have made. LOL. Any suggestions ?
What few I make if there is one that doesn’t suit me then I simply melt the lead off and clean the hook and go again. I don’t usually paint my heads so I don’t really know but I would think the paint would burn off and you could just dip it out with a spoon maybe.
Yes start over. Usually you can just cut off the offending color chenille and tail, then just re-tie it.

I just donate them to the kids at the the annual kids fishing rodeo, they don't care what they are they just want free stuff.
Unpainted incomplete heads I use a set of gate cutters and remove the lead without heat. I think that some of the hooks get the color or coating messed up by melting the lead from a hook to be reused. Painted or tied, what few I deal with I just throw them in the pot and scoop the trash with a spoon. Ties I have no confidence in I give away. Been known to give away some good ones too, to the right person. Jigs are like currency among us.
