    Default Some Jig Patterns.

Here are a couple of jig patterns that I've been working on. The long tails are holographic tinsel and I meant for them to be wider, but the tinsel I ordered was more narrow than I expected. I'll have to get some wider tinsel. I know there are a few flaws in these, they are a work in progress but do you think they will catch Crappie? I will be fishing clear water.

    Thanks

Those are spot on!! I use some similar to the top two with good results. If you haven't already found it, there is a section just for tying jigs and making your own. Come look us up. You'll be sure to pick up a tip or two.

I like all of those. The top 2 are my favorites.

They most certainly be very effective. I especially LOVE the "gray ghost" pattern. "Skiptomylu" (here this site) has made up this very pattern for me with horse head spin jigs. One of my staples.

I tie both these also, and have good success with both. I, like you, leave the flashabou quite long. Actually I leave the tail mat'l rather long also but always extend the flash beyond it 1/2" or more. Can always cut some off. I don't use the magnum flash but have thought of it. This size does give some movement, and I like that.

Thanks, guys. Very encouraging. I appreciate all your comments. I have some other ideas in mind. What would you guys do with a medium dark blue jig head? What color tail and chenille body?

I just got into fly tying also and it is a great hobby. Barlows tackle is 10 minutes from job and Bass Pro Shop is 10 minutes from my house. I have had to control my spending as of late. I like chartreuse with dark blue but then again like chartreuse with any color. You are well on your way my friend. Nice work.

Great job. Perhaps this should be moved to the jig tying forum where many more will see your great work.
