Unfortunately, every order "can" be slightly different. If the place your order from (say TJ's) purchased 10lbs of powder, it would be pretty safe to say that you will get the same shade today as you did yesterday. That being said, if they are going through a lot of paint, you may not get that same shade next week or next month.

I think at last count I had someplace in the neighborhood of 40 or 50 colors. I go through a ton of paint with my business and use some more than others. As and example, my last batch of bright green was really nice and light. This new batch is a darker shade and is noticably different. Orange, pink, even pearl will have a slightly different hue depending on when you order it.

So, the hot pink you have today may be a different shade than the hot pink you get next week. It may also be differnet than the hot pink I have or that someone else has. Even if we all purchased it from the same place. If you are looking to get a brighter or different shade than what you have, try mixing a little bit of other colors in it to lighten or darken it. Don't mix up the whole can. I use small little cups for testing like this.

Just so you know before hand, paint is not even close to the only thing this will happen with. Chenille will change from time to time. I have 2 shades of Copenhagen Blue in here right now. It use to be more of a just medium Blue, but at some point a couple years back it changed to a really bright medium Blue and actually is much better now, but both worked well! Also it doesn't stop there as feathers are maybe the worst as some guy have to change brands of dye at times because the state of California bans some other substance that is in the dye and once they change brands for sure it will make a new shade at least until they work through the change. Also know these guys are not just dying a oz or two, but more like pounds of feathers and at times you may love a shade you get, but the next time it's not the same and not much you can do about it unless you want to buy a lot! However if you buy enough to last your life time it will not change for you, lol? I know guys can not buy a life time of materials as they may need a house just for their materials, lol!

Oh an I have and still do at times order a special color, but you have to buy so much that I sell off a lot of my extra.

Skip, I didn't even think about that but you are correct! Anything involving color and dye is going to have different pigment and hue factors. For me, I notice it because I work with it every day. For the customer, they don't so much notice it. Not unelss I send them 50 in one shade and 50 in another!

LOL, absolutely! I have been buying the same stuff and colors for 10 to 12 years now and believe me I see it all the time. Then some kind of new guy will call me and say last time I got xyz it looked like this and this time I got the same exact thing and it's a different color so what is the deal. Then I also have to tell them everything matters as far as who is doing the dye work and what brand of dye as well what they are trying to do. At some point they have to understand if they absolutely fall in love with a shade of some color, they better get a load of it before it changes maybe in the next month or even next week, lol!

Brand also matters big time. I am positive the FL Chartreuse from WAPSI is not the same shade as the same color from Hareline!

The top jig has a white base coat with a hot pink topcoat. The lower jig has a hot pink base coat with a candy pink topcoat. All are Pro-Tec. I like the bottom jig the best myself. Little late on this thread but hope it helps you out a little bit.
