    Default DOLL FLY

I thought I would start a new post on the doll fly here are some original heads out of the late 50s and 60s I tied up one exactly the way we used to fish them when I was about 13 years old these heads are probably over 50 years old or more you'll notice that they are flat these are 1/16 oz. 1/32oz. they used to come on a card of maybe 20 or so the ones that I bought were from Polson cascade of very old manufacture in Portland Oregon he was noted for trout flies also he made a lot of salmon and steelhead tackle I do have a few of the old heads left that we keep for a keepsake in remembrance Mr. Paulson he was a handicapped gentlemen in a wheelchair he had about eight ladies that used a tight trout flies. I do not tightrope flies anymore I used to where I start it was from a lady called Audrey joy she was a commercial fly maker this is where I learned I was about 15 years old when I started I will turn 70 years old in April so a lot of years have gone by in this one hobby that I truly love and enjoy making jigs has been a passion of mine for all those years. the jig heads in the picture are probably older than most people on the site. all of the doll flys were tied with feathers marabou is sassy only ones that I've ever seen there was no other material that I know what it was used back then is I never seen any with hair or any other material. one Mr. Paulson retired I went over to visit and he had a lot of stuff left over from his business I bought most of the stuff that he had left over for $100 bill I filled up my pickup completely full he had hooks and dated back to World War II and some of the books I've never seen it were imported you guys can research all of this that I stated I could be wrong on the heads but I'm pretty close.

Just looking at the ones up for sale on ebay show maribou and polar bear. Heres one with yellow polar bear and the same type head I have. But if you look through them you'll see a lot of different heads.

I'm not arguing the point there could've been many variations turn the 50s and 60s but I did not see them I'm talking about what we had in our sporting goods in Portland Oregon back when I was growing up .
