Default Do It Shad Dart Head Mold

Just bought this mold, does anyone have a few examples of ties using this head they would be willing to share?

I imagine just marabou or bucktail adding a tail.

Can it be any plastics be used with this?

    Thanks-

Sure. You can modify the mold to use the wire keeper if you like or a small dab of super glue will help hold a plastic in place.

Been a long time since I tied any of them, but 25 pages into my photobucket pics there one was, LOL! You can also tie a hackle tail on them.

Here is a link to a hackle tail one on my site. http://thumpitjigs.com/images/DSC01418.JPG

nice. Does adding chenille body change the action of the lure much?

Really I couldn't tell you for sure, but I think not, sorry about that. I have usually used them under a cork. My biggest problem is I am almost exclusive hooked on a Roadrunner type head in 1/32 of spring and even fall if I get out then, I have done well though on them.

I like to tie with different color squirrel tails, I use only 1/32 oz and 1/64 oz.

The name says it all. Designed for shad fishing because it darts. Either in running stream water or with a jerking motion it makes the jig dart back and forth creating shad to strike the lure. Most darts are tied with kiptail. Common colors are white with a red tip in the dart white tail tied with red thread. Also yellow and a two tone green seem to be the most popular.

if I knew how to get a picture posted I would show the one I tie, I make mine with calf tail, nothing special but in the spring it seems to work very well on crappie and the whitebass run. I just use 1/32 and 1/64.
