    I use a side cutter piers. One of the handiest tools I have on my tying bench. I have cut probably a 1000 jig collars off with it. My newest mold is the walleye jig and it has a collar. I have been cutting these off lately.

    The thread you tie with shouldn't make a difference in you loosing the jig or any part of it, but hang ups will take some no matter what you tie it with.
