    Default How to thin.

What can be used to thin Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails? Have tried two different acetone-based nail polish removers but both made the Sally's turn cloudy and thick.

I don't use Sally's thinned, but I do make my own glue for the finish of a jig. Mine soaks in and doesn't leave a hard spot. I mix Clear High Gloss Lacquer and MEK 50/50. You could use a different thinner, but I like MEK because I can use it for several things and it dries fast.

Also forgot mention fingernail polish is just a Lacquer! So you can also use the High Gloss Lacquer for other things like over eyes to protect, just use at full strength for somethings. I bought a Qt of each years ago and still using from the same ones.

Look for the fast drying Salley. It is already thinned.

Lacquer thinner at a 1:1 ratio works well with sallies. Another little trick is to cut half the bristles off the applicator if you tie mostly smaller jigs.

MEK is NASTY stuff! It's right up there with vinyl paint thinner.

Your right PA, not something you want to get on you if possible and yes you can use it as vinyl thinner! One reason I have it is for vinyl thinner too since I have a good many colors in vinyl. You have to keep thinner on hand with that stuff or it will thicken so bad!
